Table Setting Bigz XL: Autumn Splendor Place Card November 24, 2009

Each seat's a place of honor with place cards.

You, dear reader, know that the InkPaperStamps mantra is ‘quick easy cute fun’.

But, hand-trimming an Autumn Splendor oak leaf is not quick work.  Hand-trimming six or eight?  You’ve got yourself a good project for TV night.

What if, however, that oak leaf is embossed with an added pinch of Dazzling Diamonds and aquapainted in the hues of autumn?

The results are breathtaking.

And look closely:  behind the oak leaf, you can see the peak of the Table Setting place card diecut.  This peak is the secret to giving your leaf its elegant elevation–it’s almost as if you’ve captured a fall breeze in mid-whirl.

So, today, we’ll forego ‘quick’ for ’splendid’ on this Autumn Splendor place card.  After all, it is Thanksgiving.

The Autumn Splendor place card was first presented on the Holiday Mini blog hop.

(For full effect of the interplay of embossing and aquapainting, please click on the photo for a closer view.)

RECIPE

Ink: Encore Gold, Really Rust, More Mustard, Chocolate Chip

Paper: Naturals Ivory, More Mustard, Chocolate Chip

Stamps:  Autumn Splendor

Etc.: paper snips, reinkers, aquapainter, heat tool, Embossing Buddy®, Powder Pals®, Stampin’ Emboss Powder (clear), Stampin’ Glitter (Dazzling Diamonds), Big Shot®, Sizzix dies (Table Setting Bigz™ XL, Sizzlits Decorative Strip -Stampin’ Up! Kevin: He’s Just that Cool November 21, 2009

Filed under: Friends — Holly @ 8:39 PM

Now *that's* a party favor.

Recently, I told you about Kevin and the card I made in honor of his 50th birthday.

Now it’s time to share the lovely party favors Kevin put together for each of his guests.

Wrapped in a reusable plastic baggie (lest departing guests encountered flood waters on their way home) were an LED flashlight, a screwdriver with multiple interchangeable heads and a pocket knife sure to get you strip searched at any airport in the country.

Now I ask you:  how cool is all that?!?!

Ever the considerate host, Kevin didn’t stop there–as each couple departed, he checked to make sure that husband and wife had a different style or color of each tool.  That way, there’d be no inadvertant mixing up of implements.

Kevin, that was so appreciated–I *hate* it when DH borrows my tools. . . .

For a close up of these fine tools (including a pocket knife unfolded to the full extent of its glory), please click on the photo.

Table Setting Bigz XL: Secret of the Floating Stem Charm November 19, 2009

Filed under: Big Shot, Creative Twist, Stem Charms, Techniques — Holly @ 11:25 AM

Magic revealed: just good old-fashioned stampin' ingenuity

***InkPaperStamps has moved***

Please visit us at our new home, InkPaperStamps.com.

You’ve wondered.  You’ve waited.  And now, the time has come.

The secret behind the Floating Stem Charm (seen here in Thanksgiving and bridal styles) is *drumroll please*:

that funky little ‘reinforcer’ diecut from the Table Setting Bigz XL die!

Friends, punch a hole in each end of that reinforcer diecut with your trusty Crop-a-Dile, attach to charm securely, thread with elastic cord, tie off and trim–and prepare to be the toast of your feast!

But wait, there’s more!

Thanks to the elastic cord, your floating stem charm is fully repositionable, allowing each guest to adjust for their personal imbibing comfort.

  • Position high on the stem for Aunt Mae and her delicate, pinkie-extended hold.
  • Position mid-stem for your wannabe social climbing inlaw, who cradles every stemmed glass as if it were a brandy snifter.
  • Position low for good old Cousin Joe and his firm, full-stem grip.

So, now that you know the secret, where will *you* amaze your family and friends with your own Floating Stem Charms?

RECIPE

Ink:  crafter’s choice

Paper:  crafter’s choice

Stamps: crafter’s choice

Etc.:  Big Shot, Sizzix Table Setting Bigz XL die, elastic cord, sticky strip

Techniques:  floating stem charm
